High foreclosure rates across the country, the economic downturn, and the resulting raised crime rates are major concerns to new voter Tyrone, 34, originally from Gary, IN.  He registered to vote for the fist time this year in Porter County, because, as he says, “I just want to see a change.”

Tyrone is one of an unprecedented number of new voters who are making their voices heard this election season, and he wants to make sure that everyone who registered, comes out and votes.  “You better show up,” he says, “because we need a change in our society.  We’re not going to get it if all of us don’t come together and make it happen.”

Tyrone feels the issues at stake in this election are too important for people to be dissuaded from voting for any reason.  To people who may face long lines at polling places, he says, “Stand there and wait.  Stand there and hold on, because we need this change.  We need this.  I would say stand there even if it takes ten hours.  Just stand there.”
