Her experience as a community organizer in Cleveland, OH with ACORN motivated Shaina Ross, 24, to register to vote for the first time. She talks regularly with people in her community about their concerns, and realized that voting is an important way people can affect the political decisions that directly impact their lives.
She says, “The fact is, if you don’t vote, the elected officials don’t really worry about your issues or your needs. I learned that if I actually vote, I actually have a chance of getting what I need and getting a president that I like.”
Ross will join unprecedented numbers of new young voters who will make their
voices heard at polling places across the country this election.
