Twenty-five year-old ACORN member Rayshaunda Jackson is a newly registered young voter.  She registered through ACORN, driven to vote for the first time in her life because of her concerns about healthcare and the economy.  Like nearly 47 million other Americans, she is without health insurance.

“I feel that this is an important election because of healthcare.  I don’t have any healthcare.  A lot of people that I know don’t have any healthcare,” she says.

Along with record numbers of new voters, Jackson will make her voice heard in the election this November 4th, participating in this key part of American democracy in the hopes of seeing more resources for working-class people.  She says, “I think that we just need healthcare, retirement, employment…a lot of things.”
