Twenty-five year-old Inez Gray is voting for the first time this election.  A resident of Cleveland, OH, she says that in past elections, she didn’t think her vote would matter.  “It seemed like it didn’t matter whether or not you voted.  I didn’t think my vote was going to count.”

This election season, she doesn’t want her community left out of this key part of American democracy.  Like countless Americans, she is concerned about the poverty she witnesses in her hometown.  “I want somebody in office that’s going to be for the poor people,” she says.  “A president that’s going to help us and change.  We need something better.”

Gray registered to vote through an ACORN representative on the street.  Inspired by this encounter, and motivated by her hopes for a better presidential administration, she began volunteering for ACORN, registering more members of her community to vote.
