Twenty eight-year-old Antonietta Jones was born and raised in Orlando. She confesses to having spent her whole life without either voting or wanting to. Until now.
“There is a lot of stuff going on in the world right now,” says Jones, “and I think if everyone that can get out and votes we have the opportunity to change things.”
Jones was at a grocery store near her home this past August when she was approached by an ACORN canvasser.
“I would have registered anyway, because I really feel it’s important to do so this year, but this way was just easier.”
She gave the ACORN rep, whose name she can’t recall, her details. ACORN submitted her application and Jones hopes to receive her brand new voter registration card in the mail any day now.
“I tell you, I’m voting for change. We need it.”
