Amber Beavers, at 18, has some very grown-up concerns that are leading her to vote for the first time.  The highschool senior is a mother, so she's very concerned about healthcare for her child.  She is planning on going to college, and looking at rising education expenses she is worried about being able to afford college for her own child down the line.  She has a job, but the economy is a big concern as well.  All of these factors have combined to make a very conscientious, politically aware new voter.

Amber spoke with us at William Horlick High School.  The cost of healthcare is a strain; she is afraid she couldn't afford to take her daughter to the doctor if costs continue to soar.  She'd like to see a healthcare system where everyone can get and afford equal treatment.  She's also frightened by what she sees going on on Wall Street; she doesn't think the country can handle another Great Depression.

She believes that the youth vote is going to make a real difference in this election, and is hopeful about the political engagement she's seen amongst her fellow students.
