At Issue:

While nearly 1 in 4 of her county’s residents age 18 and up are not registered to vote, Gabrielle Blach is one of thousands of new young voters across Florida intent on changing voter participation statistics. "I feel like it's important to be involved," she told Florida Today. "If more people voted, the outcome would be more accurate."[1]

Excerpt:

The war to gain voters is playing out against a backdrop of widespread enthusiasm in this historic election year, as the nation prepares to elect either its first black president or its first female vice president.

Since the January primary, about 22,350 newly registered voters have been added to the rolls in Brevard County.

The big questions now: Will those people show up at the polls in November? And who will they vote for?

Among the newly registered voters is Gabrielle Blach, 19, of Cocoa.

She said signing up to vote was something she always knew she would do.

"I feel like it's important to be involved," Blach said. "If more people voted, the outcome would be more accurate."
